New Jersey High School Students to Shout Down Drugs and Showcase Their Musical Talents in PDFNJ’s Prevention Concert

MILLBURN — Twenty-seven New Jersey high school students comprising 21 solo artists and groups will perform in the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey’s (PDFNJ) 19th annual Prevention Concert being held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 26 on shoutdowndrugs.com.

The Prevention Concert, sponsored by PDFNJ with support from 95.9 FM WRAT, is the culmination of PDFNJ’s Your Song! Your Voice! Shout Down Drugs New Jersey music competition that challenges New Jersey high school students to create original songs and use their voices as a means to inspire their peers to live a healthy substance-free lifestyle.

“The Your Song! Your Voice! music competition was established on the premise that music has the ability to move people.” said Angelo Valente, PDFNJ’s Executive Director. “Each year I am so impressed with the talent of these teens, not only for their musical ability but on being peer leaders by creating positive messages about substance use prevention that can have a great impact on people’s lives.”

The concert will take place virtually and will air on shoutdowndrugs.com with the winners to be announced live on air on 95.9 FM WRAT or www.wrat.com immediately following the concert at 6:40 p.m.

The first-place winner of the Your Song! Your Voice! competition will receive a $5,000 music contract. The second-and third-place winners will receive $3,000 and $2,000 music contracts, respectively, with the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey.
