40,000 Healthy Lifestyle Activity Books to Arrive ‘Polar Express’ Style for New Jersey 3rd Graders

MILLBURN — Just like “The Polar Express” and the “first gift,” the arrival of the “first activity book” will be handed to two New Jersey third grade students right off the delivery truck at 11 a.m. Friday, February 1.

Twins Arianna and Anthony Calamusa will receive the first of 40,000 Healthy Life - Healthy Decisions Coloring and Activity Books being distributed to third grade students throughout New Jersey by the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey.

Maria Spina from the PSEG Foundation, Arianna and Anthony Calamusa, 3rd Graders from the McGinn Elementary School, and Angelo Valente, Executive Director of the Partnership of a Drug-Free New Jersey

The activity book, supported by a grant from the PSEG Foundation, emphasizes the importance of making healthy choices and includes an age-appropriate contract asking students to pledge not to use alcohol, tobacco and other drugs that would be harmful to themselves, their friends and families. The book will also be signed by parents and school representatives, symbolizing a promise to support the students’ efforts.

“Preventing the use and misuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in schools and communities is a crucial mission and requires reaching children of all ages through age-appropriate, substance use prevention efforts,” PDFNJ Executive Director Angelo Valente said. “The Healthy Life - Healthy Decisions Coloring and Activity Books help deliver this message to children in a fun way.”

The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey’s free school-based programs offer New Jersey students a host of activities to keep kids and their parents informed about substance use prevention.
