The CarePoint Foundation honored Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey Executive Director Angelo Valente with the Daniel A. Kane Memorial Community Service Award at the CarePoint Foundation Gala at Saint Peter's University on Thursday, October 25. Joining Valente at the gala was the PDFNJ staff. More than 425 people came out last month for the sixth annual CarePoint Foundation gala, which was held at Saint Peter's University in Jersey City.

Funds raised at the sold-out Broadway-themed event will help the foundation provide grants and sponsor conferences on the opioid epidemic, homelessness, human trafficking and sex assault.

The foundation is the philanthropic arm of CarePoint Health, which operates Christ Hospital in Jersey City, Hoboken University Medical Center and Bayonne Medical Center.

Honored this year was Angelo M. Valente, executive director of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, who received the Daniel A. Kane Memorial Community Service Award.

Valente was instrumental in working with Christ Hospital and the CarePoint Health team to develop an opioid free emergency department program, and the Partnership for a Drugfree New Jersey partnered with the Foundation earlier this year on a panel addressing the national opioid epidemic.
