CarePoint Foundation to Host “A Night on Broadway” Gala to Celebrate Hudson County Community

Angelo M. Valente, Executive Director of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, to Be Honored

JERSEY CITY, NJ (October 19, 2018)—On Thursday, October 25, 2018, CarePoint Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CarePoint Health, will continue the tradition of hosting its annual gala event which helps fund the mission and work of the Foundation. The CarePoint Foundation supports numerous organizations and programs including community outpatient mental health services, HIV/AIDS services through the Ryan White Grant Program, and Project SAFE which provides psychological treatment to survivors of sexual abuse, amongst others.

“Our annual CarePoint Foundation gala event is an evening that celebrates the strides we have and will continue to make to break down the healthcare barriers many members of our community face,” said Paula Nevoso, President of the CarePoint Foundation. “It is also an evening for us to recognize our dedicated partners, like our honoree Angelo Valente, whose leadership and commitment have made a tremendous impact within the community and throughout the state.”

During the gala at Saint Peter’s University, Angelo M. Valente, Executive Director of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, will be honored with the Daniel A. Kane Memorial Community Service Award. Mr. Valente is the executive director of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, which, since its inception in 1992, aims to reduce substance abuse and misuse in New Jersey. The Daniel A. Kane Memorial Community Service Award was established in 2015 to honor the memory of the late Dan Kane, who served as CEO of Bayonne Medical Center as well as several other hospitals for more than 30 years and most recently served as Chair of the CarePoint Foundation.

Mr. Valente was instrumental in working with Christ Hospital and the CarePoint Health team to develop an opioid free emergency department program, and the Partnership for a Drugfree New Jersey partnered with the Foundation earlier this year on a panel addressing the national opioid epidemic.

“I am honored to receive this recognition from the CarePoint Foundation and pleased that so many important programs and services are benefiting from this event,” said Angelo Valente, the Executive Director of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey. “The work the CarePoint Foundation helps countless people through the region and the state, including the support it has provided the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey in its mission to prevent substance misuse and abuse and addiction through awareness, education and hope.”

Now in its sixth year, the Gala has enabled the CarePoint Foundation to provide grans, sponsor crucial conferences on opioid prescription abuse, human trafficking, homelessness and sexual assault. This year, the gala has exceeded expectations and is sold out – with more than 425 attendees.

“The foundation is a key partner in helping us provide important services to the often-underserved population and deliver care to those most in need,” said Dr. Natasha Deckmann, Chief Executive Officer for CarePoint Health. “It is rewarding to see so many members of the community understand and support the work of the Foundation and recognize the important role that healthcare plays in building a stronger Hudson County.”
