Drugs Don’t Work in NJ! Seminar to Highlight Importance of Drug-Free Workplace Policies
MILLBURN – The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ) will focus on substance use in the workplace next month at its annual Legal Issues of a Drug-Free Workplace Statewide Seminar.
The free event, which is part of PDFNJ’s Drugs Don’t Work in NJ! program, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, May 16 at the Mays Landing Country Club, 1855 Cates Road, Mays Landing, NJ 08330. The meeting will include a sit-down breakfast.
Speakers will include Nancy N. Delogu, Esq., of Littler, Washington, D.C. and Nicholas J. Kolen, Assistant Special Agent in Charge with the Drug Enforcement Administration – New Jersey Division.
Powell Stevenson of the New Jersey State Industrial Safety Committee will be honored with the Drugs Don’t Work in NJ! Founder’s Award for his leadership and advocacy for establishing and maintaining drug-free workplaces in the New Jersey business community.
The seminar will address the opioid crisis and prescription drug misuse, drug testing protocols, consequences of marijuana legalization on New Jersey workplaces, trends in workplace substance use and misuse and creating a comprehensive drug-free workplace policy.
Workplaces are not immune to the epidemic of drug-related deaths and addiction that has affected New Jersey and the entire nation. In fact, more than 70 percent of the 14.8 million Americans who misuse drugs are employed.
“Establishing drug-free workplace policies is vital to protecting New Jersey businesses and employees,” said Angelo Valente, Executive Director of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey. “The annual seminar provides business an opportunity to learn more about the emerging trends and issues that must be addressed in maintaining a safe and drug-free work environment.”
