RED BANK — Investigators seized nine bricks of heroin during a raid on a Drummond Avenue residence Tuesday morning, police said.

Detective Robert Clayton and Sgt. Michael Frazee, of the borough police Anti-Crime Unit, arrested Ronnie Simpson, 28, and charged him with drug possession and possession with intent to distribute, following a month-long investigation, according to Capt. Darren McConnell.

A brick of heroin contains 50 individually wrapped hits of heroin, McConnell explained. The nine bricks would have an approximate total street value of $5,000, he said.

Simpson also was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, after police discovered a minor living inside the residence and being exposed to the drug sales by Simpson, McConnell added.

Simpson is being held in the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold Township on $150,000 bail.

A Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit assisted at the scene, McConnell added.
