NEIGHBOR NEWS (BOONTON EDITION)

On Thursday, May 23, Maksym Lozynskyj of Township of Boonton, a student at Morris Catholic High School, is one of 33 New Jersey high school student finalists who will perform at the ninth annual Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey’s Shout Down Drugs Prevention Concert, presented by Comcast.

Lozynskyj will perform his original song, "Night of The Sixth," at the statewide concert held at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark.

The New Jersey Shout Down Drugs music competition challenges high school students to create original music with lyrics that contain powerful peer-to-peer drug prevention messages. Thirty-three high school students, representing 16 New Jersey counties, will compete for one of three music contracts with the PDFNJ, worth a total of $10,000, to perform their winning songs at statewide events.

The program’s website, shoutdowndrugs.com, features profiles of this year’s finalists and allows the public to cast votes for their favorite songs. These results will be factored into the finalists’ scores on the night of the concert. Tickets to the concert are free, but must be reserved at shoutdowndrugs.com.

The May 23 Prevention Concert will be filmed by Comcast and aired on Comcast’s Video On Demand.
