10/16/2014

MILLBURN - The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration - New Jersey Division will be hosting a webinar on October 22nd at 11:30am to explain The Secure and Responsible Drug Disposal Act, a new national regulation from the DEA that will enable hospitals, pharmacies, and long term care facilities to become prescription drug take back sites.

“The new regulations offer exciting opportunities to increase the number of places New Jersey residents can dispose of their unused, unwanted, and expired prescription drugs and keep them off the streets and out of the reach of our children,” said Angelo M. Valente, Executive Director of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey. “The purpose of this webinar is to ensure that hospital administrators, pharmacy owners, community groups, long term care facilitators, and law enforcement have the information they need to help curb prescription drug abuse in our state.”

During the free program, participants can expect to learn about the basics of the new regulations, as well as engage with law enforcement and prevention experts on the specifics of becoming a prescription drug take back site. The DEA hopes that, with the passage of The Secure and Responsible Drug Disposal Act, the supply of unused pharmaceutical controlled substances in the home will decrease, thereby reducing the risk of these drugs being abused.

The webinar is to be held on October 22nd at 11:30am. To register for the webinar, participants must sign up at www.drugfreenj.org/amcc/2014deawebinar/
