Thousands of Ohioans are being prescribed dangerously high amounts of opioid pain medication — including Vicodin, Oxycodone and Percocet — despite prescribing guidelines meant to lessen the risk of addiction, according to a new report from federal health watchdogs.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General looked at the kind and amount of drugs being prescribed to Medicaid recipients in Ohio.
