- Heartbeats: Taking on the opioid epidemic

New Jersey’s chiropractic physicians are ready to take on the opioid epidemic, both from a treatment and a prevention standpoint. More than 500 chiropractors from across the state recently explored the top conditions that can be co-managed through a multidisciplinary approach — a key in the fight to keep patients in pain from becoming dependent on prescription painkillers, and to ease those already dependent off of them. At the Fall Summit of the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors (ANJC) in New Brunswick, Dr. Gino Chiappetta, a Somerset orthopedic surgeon, and Dr. Jordan Kovacs, a chiropractor based in Eatontown, demonstrated a real-time cadaver dissection of the spine — an unprecedented event at a state association conference — reviewing lower back landmarks from both orthopedic and chiropractic perspectives. The Fall Summit was held at the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick.
