PSE&G, PSEG Foundation & Ray Lucas Honored at PDFNJ Gala

I want to take a moment to thank our sponsors, benefactors and guests who all contributed to a memorable and successful Angel of Hope Gala, the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey’s major fundraiser, which took place at the Liberty House in Jersey City on May 14. The gala's Doo Wop Extravaganza theme came to life through vibrant 1950s-inspired décor, cuisine, and a performance by The Doo Wop Project, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of celebration and community.

PSE&G and the PSEG Foundation received the Angel of Hope Award in recognition of their leadership and commitment to educating and protecting New Jersey residents through impactful community support and public health initiatives. One such initiative is their ongoing collaboration with PDFNJ on the Third Grade Healthy Life Healthy Decisions Coloring and Activity Book, which was distributed to 40,000 third-grade students across the state, delivering important messages about healthy living and substance use prevention.

Ray Lucas received the Joseph (J.P.) Miele Lifetime Achievement Award for his advocacy in prevention and recovery, inspiring change through his personal journey. A former Rutgers University quarterback and NFL player, Lucas is central to the Knock Out Opioid Abuse initiative, supported by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. Since 2022, he has shared his story with thousands of high school athletes, conveying a vital message about the risks of prescription opioids and the need for prevention and informed choices.

I also want to acknowledge the hard work and generosity of Elaine and Steven J. Pozycki, Gala Co-Chairs and share their sentiments about the evening. They recognize that the success of the gala serves as an example of the powerful impact that occurs when organizations and people with compassion commit themselves to advocate for the prevention efforts still needed to combat the opioid crisis in our state.

None of this could have happened without the wonderful support from the sponsors noted below:
