September is National Recovery Month

As this coming Monday, September 1, is the start of National Recovery Month, I offer my congratulations to all individuals who are celebrating their recovery, whether they have been in recovery for just a few days, a month or two, or for years. Every day of recovery is a good day. I also commend all friends of recovery and all those working in the field.

As individuals we can offer our support and words of encouragement to family members and friends. I encourage all businesses, not-for-profits and community agencies to promote recovery by reviewing their policies and procedures and to consider becoming a Recovery Friendly Workplace. Faith-based leaders can also lend their support by promoting recovery in their houses of worship throughout September. Additionally, you can also register for PDFNJ’s Knock Out Opioid Abuse Learning Series webinar,  Treating Trauma to Achieve Recovery at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 11.

Over 20 million Americans are in recovery, working every day to improve their health and wellness and continually striving to live self-directed lives to reach their full potential. They are most deserving of our full support. Once again, congratulations to one and all.
